Lots of Thankfulness on Thanksgiving Day

At the beginning of this semester, Yoshie, who was my former writing teacher invited us, (Tonton, Mari and me) to her house on Thanksgiving Day! Thanksgiving Day is one of the biggest holidays in the U.S.A. Almost all American people celebrate it with family and lots of Thanksgiving foods, such as turkey, apple pie, and so on. Even though she invited us last semester, we couldn’t go to her house because she couldn’t get permission from the school. Therefore, this semester I couldn’t wait to visit her house!!!!

First of all, I am grateful to Yoshie. She prepared lots of GREAT Thanksgiving foods such as a big turkey, apple pie and many super nice foods. The turkey was so big it filled the oven compleatly full. We helped her, with the cooking, nevertheless it took almost a half day! Because I made capacity in my stomach for dinner, I could have eaten a whole horse when dinner finally started. We ate lots of foods, ate and ate, and we really pigged out!!!! It was the first time to eat such traditional Thanksgiving food. For breakfast the next morning, she cooked miso soup, white rice, and egg rolls for us. Those were perfect!!! While we were eating, we couldn’t help smiling :)

I am thankful to Yoshie and her family. They tried to entertain us by going to a parade with a Christmas tree light show, fireworks and many more other interesting things! The day was rainy so I was worried if every event would be canceled. My anxiety was in vain. We could enjoy all the activities in the rain, especially the Christmas tree light show was awesome! The Christmas tree was twice as tall as the famous one at Rockerfeller Center in NY. Compared to any Japanese light show I’ve been to, this one in Coeurd’Alene was the best! Yoshie and her family were really nice. They had never gone to this event before, so I was happy to hear from Yoshie after we went back our dorm.

Now, while I am very thankful to Yoshie and her family, my friends and I miss them so much. They are a really great family! Their house was very comfortable because it was cozy and they treated us nicely. I wish I could be a member of her family. I couldn’t be happier!!!!
