Sky City and The School

In this trip, I experienced a precious thing. On the 4th day, I went to Acoma Pueblo. Acoma Pueblo was on the top of a high mesa, so it was called "Sky City." When I walked around the house, there were a few people who sold their pottery. They have lived in mesa until now. I didn't think that I could meet Acoma people today, so I was surprised.

After this tour, I visited The Sky City Community School. It was an elementary school. When I arrived at the school, some children took me for lunch. We arrived later than the first plan, so it was impossible to have lunch with children. However, a few children left with us and talked. One girl liked my camera and she took many pictures with it. They were very active and not ashamed to talk with us, Japanese. After the lunch, I was taken to a classroom. My partner was Arisa. When we entered the classroom, the teacher asked us to be teachers. As soon as I heard that, I became anxious, because I had no plan to teach children. At last Arisa and I decided to make crane by origami with everyone in the class. It was difficult to explain the way to make a crane in English, but all children enjoyed and were able to finish making their own cranes. I was happy while I taught children. Unfortunately, it was time to go when we decided to go outside. There was very very short time to communicate with children. I wanted more time! Finally we took a picture.

Visiting a school and playing with the students was impossible for a private trip, so I was very happy. The students were cute and funny. I could have a good time there. It became my best memory of this trip.

Hi, Nemu. I really enjoyed the visit to that elementary school. I like children very much! When it was to say good-bye to them, a boy said to me 'See you next time.' though we probably can't see each other. I felt he's kind and I almost cried. How I wish I could see them again.
