I talked with a woman in my class, she is a lesbian. I was surprised at first because I didn't know it! But I like her. I think this class made me like her more! I didn't know her very well but I had talked with her sometimes. But she came to our class to talk about herself, especially about lesbianism! I couldn't believe it. In Japan, many lesbians try to hide the truth but she joined our class! I'm proud of her. But sometimes I could see her sad face when she was speaking. Maybe it was a little hard for her to talk about herself to students who are Japanese and might have a bad image for lesbianism. She told us that in some countries if people find lesbians or gays, the lesbians and gays are killed by the government. I do not understand the treatment. Why do they treat them in such a bad way? When she told us that, her eyes seemed wet with tears. But now she lives in America with her partner Diane and their son's family. I'm really, really happy to hear that. She is happy now. And I heard their wedding anniversary is on July 21st. But I noticed that she thought Japanese have a a bad image for lesbians and gays, I'm really sad, but it's real. For me, it's OK because it's their lives so they can decide them, I think. I really appreciate her courage. I like her more than ever after this class.
