Car License Plates of New Mexico

When I went to the Southwest, I walked on the road. I saw many cars and wondered why the front of cars had no license plates?! And I also saw many kinds of license plates. They were different from Japanese because cars of NM have to have 2 licence plates and they are very simple designs with only a white board and black words, so I became really interested in American license plates!

Why in New Mexico do the front of cars have no licence plates? I asked Mieko, and she said it depends on a state's law. Some states don't have to put one on the front of cars. By the way, in New Mexico, there are zia (the zia is New Mexico's symbol that means "sun") and cactus, so I guess that American license plates show symbols of each state. Please look at my photo: it is a zia.

Now, I have little information about American licence plates. However, I would like to know what the drawings on the license plates mean. I also would like to see all 50 states' license plates. I guess they have many meanings!
