Gonzaga University

Last Monday I visited Gonzaga University as a part of conversation class. It was first time to visit this college, but I had visited other University, such as Washington University, Harvard University, and Washington State University, so I had some information about American . However Gonzaga University was a little different from other colleges. For example, this college is a private school, and Catholic, which I think Christianity. So I could see some differences. The most surprising thing was this college had a own church. Then we could walk in the church, and Barbara told us some information about the church and different between Catholic and Protestant. I had gone to Catholic high school so I have a little knowledge about it. However, that she told us information were very new for me. First, there was a small statue, and it also had a small bowl which was for washing off all out dirt of own body, so we should put in the bowl own fingers and wash those. It’s original custom of Catholic. When I entered inside of the church, I very impressed. It was huge and beautiful. The windows were made from stained glass. Also this is original custom of Catholic which was the candles. If someone’s family or friend has a problem such as sickness or something, they come here and light the candle, then the fire will remove the pain of the invalid. One more original custom is a place for just saying your fault, and the other place was that you can talk with a priest and get some advice or something, but the priest can’t see your face. So you can expose anything without any worry. I’m not Christian but I’m a little interested of about it, so I could spend very grateful experience, and I am happy because I can visit many kinds of University this semester.
