The Election

Today, I could see a new page of the American history. It was the day of election to decide a new American president. Last night, I learned about the system of American society and election in the tutorial. Until last night I knew only about the existence of Republican Party and Democratic Party. I hardly studied about American society in Japan, so I knew only this. In the tutorial, I learned the way of election and voting, Obama and McCain's ideas and vice president. Thanks to my RA, I could get a lot of information before the important night, so I became interested in tonight's election very much. After the dinner, all of the MFWI students assembled at commons to see what was happening. My group advocated Obama because our idea to society matched his announcement. I especially agreed to his idea of guns. Obama taught that having a personal gun was wrong. In Japan there are not so many crimes which are caused by guns because Japanese government forbids to have own guns. However, how about America? Many people are killed by guns every year. Why does the American government allows guns? It is a mystery for me. Also, Obama thought the Iraq war was bad. My RA, Sabrina agreed to his idea, too. The election started at 7:00. We watched a homepage which we could see which state voted for which person. I was very excited because it was the first time to experience such a thing in my life. While I talked with my friends, red and blue states increased more and more and at last, blue states were over the number of red states. Yes. Obama won the election!Yeeeeeah!! At the night, a party was held in my house. Obama gave a speech and smiled with his family on TV. I hope that Obama changes the world for the better. "We can do it! "

I'm interested in your blog. I think that America will be changed because of Obama. Moreover, I think the world will be changed by America represented discrimination was broken so America have the influence on the world.

I was also wondering why Americans want to have a gun, so I asked an RA, Stacia about it. She was McCain side, and she told me that in America, there are lots of forests, so sometimes wild animals came up, and actually, mount lion showed up in Spokane, and it tried to attack people. That's why she thinks American need a gun. It was really interesting for me.
And most teachers at MFWI supported Obama but RAs. Many RAs supported McCain. It was so interesting night for me.
