Why Do Young Americans Drink a Lot?

I heard some young Americans drink alcohol a lot and become crazy, rude, and selfish. They enjoy it! It's terrible I think because in Japan, although most people drink a lot and become a little noisy and selfish, they don't do it as much as in America. I thought deeply about the difference between drinking alcohol in America and in Japan.

First, the reason more young Americans drink than young Japanese is on account of the law. In America, people can drink after they turn 21 years old. On the other hand, in Japan the age is 20 years old. Although the difference is only a year, it's a big difference. In Japan, after graduating from high school, some kids begin to drink a lot even though they aren't 20 years old. I don't know why people do that, but it seems to me that people think university students are already adults, so they are old enough to drink.

Second, America is stricter about under-age drinking than Japan. Although Japan is too loose about it, I think Americans emphasize alcohol too much. They say, "Don't drink until you turn 21 years old." That's a big pressure on kids, so they might feel that if they drink alcohol a lot, they might feel older. In addition, there are a lot of chances for American university and college students to drink for example, I heard most American university students go to a bar as soon as their school begins, so they are accustomed to drinking and getting crazy. I think it's one of the customs in America.

In short, I compared drinking between Japan and America, but in fact, Japanese students often behave in a similar way to American students. I don't like drunk people who behave badly, because it's annoying and it's not good for their health.
