What Is the Difference In the Interest In Politics Between America and Japan?

Now, Americans are excited about politics because of the presidential election. They are very intersted in it, but Japanese are not as interested in it as them. Why are Americans more interested in politics? What is the difference in the interest in politics between America and Japan?

First, Americans can have the right to vote at 18 years old, so even some high school students can vote. I was very surprised at that because it is illegal for Americans to drink alcohol and to gamble until they are 21 years old. Why can Americans have the right to vote at only 18 years old?

I think that even the students are enthusiastic about the presidential election. Also, I heard that some students checked the presidential election on the Internet. For example, they said, ‘‘Obama is superior to Hillary now". I was very surprised at it because Japanese high school students do not care about the next prime minister in this way! Actually, I do not care about it. I thought no matter who becomes the next prime minister, Japan won't change. Maybe most Japanese have the same idea. Moreover, my friend said to me that I must not talk with Americans about the election like talking about the weather, because Americans sometimes disagree about the election, even some couples!! I couldn't believe it!! I think Japanese have to get more interested in politics.

Now, I regret that I didn't go to vote although I had the right to vote! I think that I have to participate in politics more seriously. Japan has its presidential election on September 22nd so I want to check it out on the Internet.
