Most Japanese like to relax in the bath for about one hour every day. I love to do that. If I have a lot of time, I will take a bath for about two hours in the evening. While I do, I read a book and listen to music. However, Americans prefer to take a shower for a short time instead of taking a bath. Erin, who is my RA, always takes a shower in the morning.
I think that Americans do not have time to take a bath so I think that a shower is enough for them. Sometimes, if I don’t have time, because for example I have a lot of homework or I'm tired, I don't take a shower in the morning. Also, Americans may not like soaking in a bathtub or they may not be accustomed to doing it.
I checked out this question on the Internet. It said that Americans think that taking a shower is only for washing their bodies, for getting clean, so about 15 minutes is enough. Moreover, they are not inhabit of soaking in a bathtub to relax their mind and body likes Japanese are.
Finally, I understood that the ideas about taking a bath are different in Japan and America. However, I suggest that Americans take a bath more often because they make come to realize how relaxing it is.

I also want American to suggest they should take a bath. I think that to take a bath is fabulous, don't you think??
Yuri, taking a bath is one of the (many) things that I really, really, really miss about Japan! We used to take baths almost every night in Japan -- long baths with books and peaceful candles. It was wonderful. Our bath is the US is too small for us to cover our bodies completely (like you can in a Japanese bath) so we don't take baths as much. I miss them.
Hi Yuri, I love taking a bath! So I want to do it very much! I really miss it. Our dorm have a bath tab but it's a little bit difference in Japanese.
Yuri, I like taking a bath long time so I know how to enjoy taking a bath; for example reading book, taking a nup and putting peaceful candles. I am alway relaxing using this way.
